Literature Text

Artificially Tempting
Can you see that light illuminating the heavens?
It brings false hope to the hearts of men
I no longer can …
                         see my path lying
Between the world of the damned and the world of man

I had no choice

In the world of angels
Where beauty masks silent sadness
I broke free
I fought for my independence
Thus crept in my heart a darker malice

For on this path I trampled…
                                         I bled

So I sought the flames of Hades
To purge my soulless body of love
A love that deludes the lost ones above me

I fashioned new wings
With feathers to match my sins
For the smoke that haunts my breath
Bares witness to my hell

And as I can see your quivering fright
I can smell your fear of mortality
For I am now the angel of death,
                                         Azriel

But do not approach me
For my beauty, my youth
Are but an illusion
Artificially tempting…

(c)2004 Joseph Palladino
:D :boogie: This is my first collaboration with malicekisho :blowkiss:

He asked me to write a poem for his character Azriel (above) named after the angel of death by his creator.
As he puts it: The title "Artificially tempting" explains how beautiful he is artificially...also a metaphor for how beautiful he is on the outside, but ugly on the 'inside'. Typically he's a bad boi...usually he smokes but people don't like to see that much.

I hope you like it for I will not be revising this piece as I have revised "To Never Return" [link] so many times.
